My art seeks to heal and connect through joy and contemplation, aiming to advocate for women's rights, champion climate justice, and bridge divides. With a foundation in architecture and engineering, I craft magical objects, performance rituals, and interactive installations that merge the tangible with the digital. For example, by transforming traditional objects such as amulets and calligraphy into immersive environments, the works can be navigated physically, while creating portals into ritualistic and celebratory experiences.
My practice is shaped by my diverse heritage. Growing up in Malaysia's Muslim community, I experienced a conservative Chinese and Jewish upbringing as a female descendant of Iraqi and Chinese migrants. It was only later that immigrating to the USA gave me the freedom to explore this complex identity. Through my art, I celebrate forgotten histories and values, fostering dialogue about the rich, intertwined narratives of Asian communities, with the aim of collectively addressing global challenges.
