Ephemeral Writing is an ongoing collaboration with sound artist Maria Thrän exploring how language becomes embodied through calligraphy, movement, walking, sound, and ritual. In our five-minute performance, motion-tracked gestures generate visual traces and spatialized sound, creating a shared environment that we continuously shape and navigate.

My calligraphy, movement practice, and virtual environments meet Maria’s work with walking, transmission, and sound. We think of these as different forms of writing: brushstroke, footstep, motion capture, signal, and voice. Working across analog and digital systems, we use these tools to explore how bodies communicate across languages, places, and inherited forms.

We are also interested in what can and cannot be written or spoken in different contexts, and how silence, prohibition, and mistranslation shape embodied expression. We think of writing itself as a technology, from brush and ink to motion capture and spatial sound.
