A collaborative calligraphy piece created for a Wide Awakes Juneteenth celebration. The artist performed a ritual writing the words "Joy, Life, Enough" by deconstructing and reconstructing Hebrew, Arabic, and Chinese characters into hybrid forms to honor ancestors and connect with liberation movements. The central calligraphy is surrounded by names of female abolitionists researched by the artist and personal ancestors contributed by community participants. Created as part of Helina Metaferia's Meeting Room series, the work explores tensions between honoring ancestral struggle and witnessing contemporary violence, investigating how art can hold multiple truths while advocating for justice across communities.
